Riverdale Cider Pressing 2024
15 people enjoyed a sunny day pressing apples into 14 gallons of fresh juice! We shared laughs, learned new skills, and built community connections—despite a few friendly wasps.
Sunshine and Cider Makes For a Perfect Day of Pressing
Our cider pressing event on Sunday, August 25, was a smashing success! With the sun shining and a cool breeze in the air, it was the ideal day for our community to come together and turn fresh apples into delicious cider. A huge thank you to our generous hosts, Julie and Joachim, for not only offering their home but also sharing their bountiful apple harvest with us.
Hands-On Fun and Community Connection
The day was filled with laughter, teamwork, and a bit of hard work. About 15 enthusiastic participants joined in the fun, taking turns quartering apples, cranking the crusher, operating the barrel press, and collecting the sweet cider in 4-gallon carboys.
By the end of the day, we had pressed an impressive 14 gallons of cider!
The only uninvited guests were the swarms of wasps, eager to sample the fresh cider. Despite their buzzing presence, humans and wasps managed to coexist peacefully, with only a couple of minor stings.
