Bringing Decades of Tree Care and Passion to OFRE
Hi, I’m Myrna! I’ve been a certified Arborist for over 20 years, and while I’ve had experience with nearly every aspect of tree care, my passion has always been pruning.
I love working with young trees, training them early to ensure they grow strong, healthy, and productive. These days, I focus exclusively on pruning—no more grafting or espalier training for me—and I leave the climbing to others! But what I do love is sharing my expertise through fruit tree pruning workshops.
My connection to trees and the land started early, growing up on my father’s potato farm and tending my own garden since the age of five. Those experiences taught me the importance of nurturing what we grow and ensuring that nothing goes to waste.
It’s a lesson I carry into my work today, whether I’m pruning trees or helping others understand how to care for their own.
OFRE’s mission to connect the community through harvesting and preserving local fruit couldn’t align more perfectly with my own values. For me, it’s about fostering sustainability, building community, and ensuring that everyone can enjoy the rewards of our local bounty.
When I’m not pruning trees or teaching workshops, I’m likely in the garden or dreaming about where to plant the next tree.
Because for me, it’s always about growth—of trees, of food, and of community.
