About the Grants Committee
The Grants Committee Chair and members are responsible for:
- Communicating with the President or other assigned executive to ensure alignment and input on all grant applications.
- Managing and keeping clear records of grant-funded projects to ensure compliance with reporting requirements.
- Coordinating with the Treasurer to monitor and account for “earmarked funds.”
- Identifying and exploring additional sources of revenue to support OFRE’s mission.
- Tracking the progress of grants and ensuring timely updates to relevant OFRE stakeholders.
The Grants Committee is at the heart of ensuring OFRE’s long-term sustainability and resource availability. From researching and applying for grants to managing funds responsibly, this committee finds and secures vital support for both ongoing projects and new, innovative initiatives.
Thanks to grants, OFRE has been able to establish projects like our Edmonton micro-orchard—a community resource that grows fresh, local fruit right here in the city—and create unique tools like our pedal-powered apple crusher.
The Grants Committee members collaborate closely with the Board and other committees, helping turn creative ideas into lasting community resources. Through strategic revenue generation, careful monitoring, and strong partnerships, the Grants Committee keeps OFRE’s projects moving forward with sustainable funding.
Love writing, researching, and finding creative funding solutions? Join our Grants Committee to secure vital resources for OFRE’s initiatives!
